Check lost & found pages, contact shelters, and search beyond your area to find your pet.
Contact local vets and search up to 20km from where your pet was last seen.
Make sure your pet’s ID tag and microchip details are current so you can be contacted if found.
They might have an owner out there worried sick. Take it slow, approach calmly and, if you need to, use a little food to help gain their trust. If the animal seems aggressive, injured, or you’re at risk, don’t try to catch it.
If you can, secure dogs with a leash or in a fenced yard, and pop cats into a carrier or box. Check for an ID tag and give the owner a call if there’s one listed.
No tag or can’t hold the animal safely? Contact your local council and they’ll guide you and arrange collection. Please don’t bring strays straight to The Lost Dogs’ Home, we can only accept animals once they’ve come through our council partners.
If you can’t catch the animal safely, call your council’s animal management team. You can find your local council using the link below.
We’d love to hear from you. Whether you have a question, want to get involved, or simply need more information, our team is here to help.
