Quick steps to help you reunite

Found a stray pet

Help reunite them

They might have an owner out there worried sick. Take it slow, approach calmly and, if you need to, use a little food to help gain their trust. If the animal seems aggressive, injured, or you’re at risk, don’t try to catch it.

If you can, secure dogs with a leash or in a fenced yard, and pop cats into a carrier or box. Check for an ID tag and give the owner a call if there’s one listed.

No tag or can’t hold the animal safely? Contact your local council and they’ll guide you and arrange collection. Please don’t bring strays straight to The Lost Dogs’ Home, we can only accept animals once they’ve come through our council partners.

If you can’t catch the animal safely, call your council’s animal management team. You can find your local council using the link below.
